January 23, 2013 - Algebra I Requirement

January 14, 2013 - Transfer Course Conversion Information

I have had several questions regarding transfer course conversions. Here is some information I have gathered to hopefully answer some of those questions.

SEMO's transfer course conversion  site is at http://www.semo.edu/rl/Registrar/index.asp. It will show what courses transfer to Southeast Missouri State University from other colleges. There is also more information about transferring to Southeast at http://www.semo.edu/admissions/transfer.htm

Many four year colleges offer these transfer course conversion resources and they are typically located on the school's registrar webpage or admissions webpages under Transfer Students. Here are a few that I am aware of:

Missouri State - http://www.missouristate.edu/admissions/courseequivalencies.htm

University of Missouri - http://registrar.missouri.edu/policies/transfer-credit.php

I have been meeting with all the classes and talking to them about the A+ Program. Also, if you are a Senior please make sure you get your mentoring hours completed.  Please see Dr. Panagos if you have any questions.

A+ Parent and Student Night, October 20, 2011 from 6:00-7:00 pm in room 25. With our current economic situation it is important for students and parents to be familiar with scholarship opportunities that will assist in tuition compensation. Scott City High School is working diligently to obtain A+ designation which will enable us to offer state-paid financial incentive to qualifying students. In order to keep communication open about the A+ program, we are hosting an A+ Schools Parent and Student Night. During the meeting we will be collecting A+ student contracts and handing out A+ handbooks. This meeting is reserved for Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors. For your convenience we have scheduled this  meeting during Parent/Teacher conferences. For further questions you may contact Keisha Panagos, A+ Coordinator, at 573-264-2138.

Missouri Department of Higher Education releases new requirement for A+ eligibility. Beginning with the senior class of 2015, you must have achieved a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra I end of course exam to be eligible for A+ scholarship. (Beginning in 2015, if you do not meet the Algebra I end of course requirement, you may regain eligibility by completing your first semester at a participating institution with a minimum of 12 hours and a 2.5 grade point average.) For further information you may visit the Missouri Department of Higher Education's website at http://dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/aplusscholarship.php

Welcome back Scott City High school students! As the school year begins I want to remind all freshman, sophomores, and juniors to fill out an A+ contract if you have not already done so. We will be hosting another A+ information night within the next few weeks so be watching for updates.

* Contracts can be picked up in Mrs. Conaway's room (room 2).
